New Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued for the following counties in northeast Texas: Harrison, Camp, Upshur, Wood, Titus, Morris, western Cass, Northern Smith, western Bowie, southern Red River and Franklin counties. This Warning is in effect for the current line of storms which extends from Cooper down to Canton and is moving east at approximately 50mph. The warning text below says 85 mph, but we think that may have been a typo. Damaging winds in excess of 60mph, flooding rain and even the possibility of a brief tornadic spinup exists with this line. The heavy rainfall lately and over-saturated soils has also made it easier for winds to topple trees. As this is moving quickly, don’t delay seeking shelter if you’re in the warned areas.
