Midnight update: Severe storms continue marching south in North & Northeast Texas

A line of severe storms producing damaging straight-line winds extends from near Douglassville to Daingerfield to Sulphur Springs to Emory to Kaufman. More isolated activity extends back west into Tarrant/Dallas/Johnson/Ellis counties with quarter size hail and high winds. An isolated severe storm is just west of De Leon. All of this activity is moving southeast at 30 to 50 MPH and will make it to the Gulf Coast by 9 AM. Remain weather aware overnight in East Texas, southern North Texas, the Brazos Valley, and later this morning in Southeast Texas and the Golden Triangle. Damaging straight-line winds over 70 MPH are expected with the most intense storms within the squall line. Significant wind damage may occur with numerous downed trees. Brief tornadoes are not out of the question, but would likely occur in proximity to significant straight-line winds, making both hazards dangerous.
