May 23, 2011 was the ‘day before the day’ across parts of Oklahoma and Northwest Texas. A lone low-precipitation supercell formed around 5 PM between Vernon and Seymour. The storm slowly moved southeast over the next two hours picking up dust, causing grass fires from lightning, and dropping monster hail.

Around 7 PM I decided to try get east of the storm using a farm road. The supercell had different plans as its hail core quickly overran my road and dropped copious amounts of golf ball to baseball size hail. I ended up with a cracked windshield and dozens of new dents on my vehicle. The following day ended up being a major tornado outbreak across Oklahoma and Texas including multiple EF-4/EF-5 tornadoes.
