Buckle Up! Texas Bracing For More Rowdy Storms Today!

Multiple opportunities for thunderstorms will present themselves across Texas over the next few days. We already have one cluster of storms moving southeast in Northwest Texas. That may develop further and move across Texoma, Big Country, and North Texas through the morning hours. Some data and our experiences over the last week suggest it may end up making a run at the Brazos Valley, East Texas, and Southeast Texas this afternoon. It’s a conditional risk but one that we’ll watch for. The most intense portions of the thunderstorm complex may produce damaging winds, pocket-change size hail, and flooding rainfall.

More Storms Later Today and Tonight

Additional storms will likely develop east of the dryline this afternoon in the Panhandle, West Texas, and Permian Basin. Supercells are probable for the first several hours, with very large hail and perhaps a tornado or two. By early evening, those storms will start to grow into our next thunderstorm cluster – or clusters. All of that hoopla will move east/southeast tonight into Friday morning with damaging winds, hail, and heavy rainfall. Tonight’s thunderstorm cluster may track farther south and into parts of the Concho Valley and Hill Country. We’ll need to see what this morning/afternoon round of storms in the eastern half of Texas do regarding any stabilization.

It is the neverending story…

Unsettled weather will continue into Friday and Saturday, with more thunderstorm chances. Not everyone will deal with storms over the next three days, and not all storms will be severe. I also want to emphasize that while some storms will likely produce damaging winds, that doesn’t guarantee another high-end event. You can keep tabs on what’s going on with the interactive weather radars in the free Texas Storm Chasers mobile app and our website at texasstormchasers.com/radar.

I’m sorry I couldn’t be more specific on the exact timing or threat corridors. These setups are not particularly predictable outside of six to twelve hours, and I won’t feed you a load of horse manure to make myself look more intelligent. Trust me, that pony show has come and gone. We’ll keep Y’all updated on the latest developments.
