Wind-driven Wildfire Threat increases in Texas on Tuesday

The threat of wind-driven wildfires will increase across the western two-thirds of Texas along with the entirety of the Red River on Tuesday. Have your wildfire escape plans ready to go (AKA: Two ways to escape if a fire approaches) across the Panhandle and Western Texas. We’re expecting the lowest humidity values and greatest wildfire danger across the Texas Panhandle, West Texas, Permian Basin, into the Guadalupe and Davis Mountains.

However, even further east, where we’ll see moisture starting to increase, the threat for fast-moving grass fires will be high to very high. Dormant vegetation and an ongoing drought will increase the danger of fast-moving grass fires. Relative humidity values will increase after sunset, but it’ll remain windy into Wednesday.
