Widespread Texas Storms Today: Heavy Rain, Flood Risk & Strong Storms Possible

WPC forecast rainfall map for Texas showing expected rain totals through 6 AM Monday, November 25. Highest totals of 3 to 6 inches stretch from Del Rio through the Hill Country, Central Texas, North Texas, and Texoma. Lower amounts extend into West Texas, South Texas, and the Gulf Coast. Major cities labeled include Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and El Paso.

An active day of weather is underway across Texas, with widespread showers and storms expected through tonight. Some storms may be strong to severe, with hail up to quarter size and wind gusts over 60 mph. The bigger concern: areas that already picked up 1 to 3 inches of rain last night may see additional heavy rainfall today, raising the flood threat across parts of the Hill Country, Edwards Plateau, Concho Valley, Big Country and western North Texas.

Localized flash flooding, street flooding and high water in low water crossings will be issues today and tonight. Another significant storm system arrives late Saturday night into Sunday and Monday, which may cause even more flooding as soils become saturated.
