Saturday, June 4th – Severe Weather Threats

Good morning and happy Saturday everyone!  While most of the state will not experience chances for severe weather today, parts of the Texas panhandle, western Texas and the Big Bend region will be under a Marginal (Level 1) to Slight (Level 2) risk of seeing isolated severe storms later this afternoon into the evening and early overnight hours.  Short range forecast models are not indicating much development outside of the northern panhandle and also the Big Bend region today, but sufficient instability and lift will exist all along the entire north/south dryline today near the I-27 corridor and down into the trans Pecos region for a few strong to severe storms to develop.  The main severe weather threats with any storms that develop will be large hail and damaging wind in excess of 70mph.  The tornado threat will be very low today.  Outside of the risk areas…hot and dry conditions are expected with high temperatures today ranging from the mid 80’s across northeast Texas and the northern panhandle, 90s across central and southeast Texas and low 100s out west.
