David Reimer and Paige Burress documented a brief tornado and a longer-track tornado southwest of Tescott, Kansas on May 1, 2018. This supercell began several hours earlier west of Garden City, Kansas. After a complicated cell merger and movement into a more moisture-rich environment the storm became tornadic.
Storm chasers observed a brief tornado just south of Interstate 70 northeast of Ellsworth. The storm cycled and produced a much more significant tornado southwest of Tescott about 25 minutes later. This significant tornado produced EF-3 damage over its 29-minute lifespan. No injuries were reported.
