Severe Storms Return Thursday…Roundup 3/14/2023 *corrected*

YouTube messed up my video! I promise it wasn’t even my fault, the Facebook video version was in sync. Anyway, here is a corrected version!

The threat of severe storms increases on Thursday as a strong cold front approaches Texas. The time window for severe storms will be large, but we won’t have severe storms impacting everyone in the risk area for the entire period. The threat of a few severe storms, becoming supercellular, may begin as soon as noon Thursday across eastern North Texas and East Texas.

This video ended up being a long one with all the weather to discuss, so feel free to use the chapters to scroll more easily.

Those discrete storms, out by themselves, will be moving northeast quickly – with a threat of damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes. As we head later into Thursday afternoon, the threat of storms will increase along a southward-moving cold front. Strong to severe storms will develop along a southward-moving cold front from North Texas and Northeast Texas by Thursday evening. Those storms and the cold front will move south Thursday night down through the Hill Country, Central #Texas, Brazos Valley, East Texas, Southeast Texas, and South Central Texas.

Damaging wind gusts, pocket-change size hail, and a brief #tornado are all possible, with the strongest storms within the squall line Thursday night into Friday morning. Heavy rain may result in localized flooding. We’re also likely to see showers and more behaved storms continue into Friday behind the cold front’s passage.

A late-season freeze will likely occur across the northwestern half of Texas Saturday morning as much cooler weather continues into early next week. A storm system early next week may bring our next chance for precipitation, including the opportunity for a few flakes of #snow.
