Texas Storms Tonight: Heavy Rain, Lightning & Overnight Storm Line Moving In

Thunderstorms are rolling across Texas this evening, with round one stretching from DFW down the I-35 corridor into Central and South-Central Texas. A few storms briefly tried to get sassy earlier with modest rotation, but nothing has produced tornado trouble so far.

Severe thunderstorm warnings remain possible into tonight for North Texas, Northeast Texas, and the Brazos Valley. Main hazards include:
– Very heavy rain and localized street flooding
– Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning
– Small hail in stronger cells
– Gusty winds, especially later tonight as round two develops in Northwest and West-Central Texas

A surface low near Amarillo and a sharpening dryline will help fire a second line of storms later this evening. Those storms may race east overnight into Friday morning, impacting North Texas, Central Texas, the Hill Country, South-Central Texas, East Texas, Southeast Texas, and the Brazos Valley.
