Scattered thunderstorms are increasing in number and intensity this afternoon across parts of North Texas, Central Texas, and the Hill Country. Some of these storms are exhibiting pockets of mid-level rotation, and they are moving northeast at speeds of 35 to 40 MPH. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out this afternoon.

In addition, rain chances are continuing, leading to localized flash flooding in the Hill Country. Meanwhile, in the Panhandle and West Texas, a line of showers is generating wind gusts exceeding 50 MPH and causing widespread dust as it moves eastward. A Dust Storm Warning is currently in effect for the Permian Basin and West Texas. If you find yourself in low visibility due to dust while driving, please pull well off the road and turn off your lights.
