Texas Rain Begins Wednesday: Heavy Downpours, Storms, and Flooding Risk

Moisture is surging back into Texas, and our first widespread rain event in weeks is about to begin. Showers and thunderstorms will increase Wednesday afternoon and continue Wednesday night into Thursday and Friday morning. Some storms may be strong with small hail, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Heavy rain could also lead to localized flooding in portions of Central, North, and Northeast Texas.

A second storm system arrives late this weekend into early next week, bringing another round of rain and thunderstorms. Rainfall totals will vary, but one to three inches are likely for many areas through Friday, with additional rain possible Sunday into Monday.

Stay weather aware, especially if you live in areas prone to quick runoff or low-lying street flooding.
