6:40PM Severe Weather Update for Eastern Panhandle & Northwest Texas

We’re monitoring a trio of supercells near Vernon to just south of Elk City (OK). Those storms are flying north/northeast at 50-60 MPH. New storms are expected a few hours from now in the eastern half of the Texas Panhandle. Other storms are possible late tonight in Northwest Texas and the Big Country. The strongest storms may produce damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes. A strong/long-track tornado cannot be ruled out in the eastern Texas Panhandle. Other strong to severe storms are possible after 10 PM and into the morning hours on Wednesday in the Edwards Plateau and Hill Country. Large hail, gusty winds, a brief tornado, and heavy rain are all possible with that cluster of storms later tonight.
