Nice Forecast This Weekend – Widespread Rain Returns Next Week

Good morning and happy weekend everyone!  After two days of blustery winds and yesterday’s blowing dust, we have a much calmer forecast in store for this weekend.  Other than some passing high clouds from time to time, and residual dust making its way south to the coast, skies should be mostly clear this weekend with no chance for rain.  Highs on both Saturday and Sunday will be seasonal and pleasant with 50’s expected across the panhandle, north, east and central Texas.  Further west we’ll see highs climb a little above normal into the low to mid 60’s, and further south along the coast, we’ll see highs in the 60s to low 70s.  Not bad at all!

The main weather highlight for the work week ahead will be the return of unsettled weather and chances for rain beginning on Tuesday and continuing through the rest of the week.  A large area of low pressure is expected to break off from the northern jet on Monday drop south and stall just off the Baha coast by early Tuesday.  As we will be on the eastern side of its counter-clockwise flow, that will pull moisture up from the Gulf across the state bringing on and off rain chances beginning Tuesday.  As this low is expected to sit and spin there for a few days before being picked up again by the jetstream by later in the work week, rain chances will continue through Friday and likely into next weekend as well.  It’s still too early to nail down the details of exactly where and when most of the rain will fall, but the rainfall forecast below will give you an idea of who, at this time, is expected to receive a bulk of the rain through next Friday.  At this point in the forecast it does not look like we will have any issues with severe weather, but we’ll keep an eye on the forecast in case that outlook changes.
