A severe storm north of Franklin is moving south/southeast toward Franklin and Bryan. An outflow boundary is also moving south. In addition to ongoing storms that boundary may help new storms develop as it moves south through the Brazos Valley. The strongest storms have a history of producing damaging winds over 70 MPH and golfball size hail. The storm approaching Evant is moving south toward Killeen – and that storm is a big meanie and quite dangerous. I doubt it’ll be dissipating any time soon, so it could eventually pose a threat to the Austin metro in about two hours. It may produce hurricane-force straight-line winds along with wind-driven damaging hail.

We’ll also be watching for additional storms to fire up this evening across the Hill Country and Concho Valley. That may not happen until we’re closer to 7 PM. Storms ongoing in the southern Trans-Pecos may have small hail and gusty winds, but otherwise, they’re not doing much at the moment.
