Tornado Watch for the Edwards Plateau until 9 AM

A tornado watch has been issued for the Edwards Plateau and parts of the Hill Country until 9 AM. This watch includes Ozona, Sonora, Junction, Kerrville, Boerne, Devine, Pearsall, Uvalde, Eagle Pass, and Del Rio. San Antonio is not included at this time. This region is along and south of a warm front that is slowly moving north. Conditions south of the warm front are favorable for all modes of severe weather, including a tornado threat. There is some question on whether or not we’ll actually get storms to fire up as the cap is a bit stronger than up in the Concho Valley (storms up north are elevated above the cap). However, if we do get storms going, they could quickly become superceullar with a significant severe weather risk. That threat may increase after 3 AM as storms move into the watch area from Mexico.
