Showers with 50 MPH winds moving southeast across D/FW

Showers quickly moving southeast across the D/FW metroplex are bringing some gusty winds along for the ride. These showers, not even thunderstorms, are high-based. With a layer of drier air just above the surface, those showers are dragging some gusty north winds down to the surface. Winds may approach 45 to 50 MPH across Tarrant, Dallas, and Kaufman counties over the next 30 minutes. These winds will be a bit of a surprise since most folks aren’t hearing thunder or expecting much in the way of impactful weather. You’ll get a quick burst of rain and then it’ll be over.
