Record Breaking Heat Continues This Weekend

Extremely hot and dry conditions will continue this weekend with an additional round of record highs expected today and tomorrow.  Excessive Heat Warnings remain in effect through Sunday for all of northeast, north central, central and much of west central Texas. If you have outdoor chores to tackle, get them done early and plan to be indoors as much as possible during the heat of the day.  One glimmer of hope for will be a chance for a slight cool down next week as a “cool” front oozes south of the Red River and the ridge of high pressure shifts off to the west a bit…but it will still be seasonably hot.  Rain chances this weekend are pretty much zero across the entire state with only slight chances returning for the early part of next week as the ridge backs off and allows a few weak disturbances to drop south into the state.  As we know from many hot and dry streaks in the past, it does come to an end. The current long-range forecast into the first week of August is not showing another streak of exrteme heat like we’re currently experiencing, so let’s hold onto that little bit of hope.
