Rainfall Chances Increase Next Week!

Rain chances are finally improving this next week for a rather large portion of the state mainly along and east of the I-35 corridor.  Today’s rain across north central and northeast Texas will shift slowly to the south and east today with rainfall totals remaining fairly light across the eastern half of the state.  Tomorrow will be relatively rain-free with just a few showers and drizzle expected early tomorrow morning for coastal regions, then later in the day across the Big Country region in west central Texas and up into north central Texas and northeast Texas by tomorrow evening.  Rain chances really tick upwards prior to the arrival of our next cold front Tuesday through Wednesday.  This is when we’ll see the majority of rainfall during the work week ahead.  We’ll also be watching for the possibility of severe weather Monday afternoon and again Tuesday afternoon, but with several factors working against that…mainly a strong capping inversion…the likelihood remains low at this time.  We’ll still keep an eye on it though!

Thankfully, we’ll be seeing mild temperatures over the next several days with no threat of wintry weather.  Highs today will creep into the low to mid 70s across much of the western half of the state with 80s expected across deep south Texas by later this afternoon.  Conditions will be cooler across the eastern half of the state today mainly due to continued showers and copious cloud cover.  Sunday will be another warm day with continued cloud cover across central and eastern Texas, but we’ll likely see some clearing out west and perhaps along the coast by mid-afternoon. Temps will certainly be pleasant and in the 70s for most with 80s once again across south Texas.  Again, we’ll see some chances for additional rain with maybe a few rumbles of thunder tomorrow afternoon moving up from the Big Country region of west central Texas across north central Texas and up into northeast Texas by tomorrow evening, but nothing to write home about with regards to rainfall accumulations.

David and Paige are up in Colorado this weekend attending the National Storm Chasers Convention #Chasercon in Denver, so be sure to check back for frequent updates from them throughout today!
