A Couple of Cold Fronts Expected This Week – Rain Chances Remain Slim

Temps will remain unseasonably warm over the next few days before a couple of cold fronts arrive later this week.  Monday looks to be the warmest day of the week with forecast highs a good 25 to nearly 30 degrees above normal across much of the panhandle, 10 to 15 degrees above normal for much of north and central Texas, and up to 10 degrees above normal for the southern half of the state. A cold front will push into the panhandle by early Tuesday afternoon and into northern Texas by Tuesday evening.  It will make its way through the remainder of the state overnight into Wednesday and will knock temps back down close to seasonal averages in its wake.  Another cold front will arrive on Thursday which will knock temps down a bit further for the latter part of the work week.  A gradual warm-up will occur for the weekend ahead. Unfortunately, rain chances with the passage of these fronts will be very slim.  Parts of north and northeast Texas may see a few showers or some drizzle overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, but rainfall accumulations will be very small.  The long-range models are hinting at a return of better rain chances during the first week or so of December, so we’ll certainly be keeping our eyes on that and our fingers crossed.
