The weather headline for the next 24-28 hours will be the arrival of a strong cold front which will dive through the state on Monday.  This will be the first good strong front of the Fall season and will bring welcomed relief for those tired of feeling like summer has overstayed its welcome. The front will arrive across the panhandle region early Monday with temps dropping throughout the day.  Northern Texas will see frontal passage during the early to mid-afternoon hours, south central Texas by early to late evening, with coastal zones seeing the front arrive late Monday night into early Tuesday.  Winds behind the front will be quite gusty out of the north/northwest and we’ll likely see a few wind advisories issued for the panhandle region and possibly parts of northwest Texas. Chances for showers and a few strong to severe storms will exist ahead of the front Monday afternoon as it pushes through north and central Texas. At this time, any threat of widespread severe weather looks unlikely, but we could see a few strong storms develop with the main threat being damaging winds.

Lows Monday night across the panhandle will drop into the 30s and 40s with a slight chance of seeing a few ❄️snowflakes❄️ across the western OK panhandle and possibly the northwestern Texas panhandle as well.  The ground will be way too warm for anything to stick, but don’t be surprised to wake up Tuesday and see a slight dusting on raised surfaces.  The remainder of the state is expected to remain dry after the front passes through with the only chances for rain being the aforementioned activity expected ahead of the front’s arrival on Monday.  These cooler and more fall-like temps will stick around a few days, but we are expecting a warm-up by late in the work week and into next weekend.  Temps by late week will be back up to seasonal to above-seasonal highs once again with increasing moisture and humidity levels.  Pretty typical roller-coaster temps for Texas during early Fall!
