Wednesday August 2nd Weather Outlook: Heavy rainfall this morning for eastern Texas

An area of slow-moving showers with embedded thunder across parts of east and southeast Texas will be the weather highlights today.  Periods of very heavy rainfall can be expected across these regions as this complex of storms slowly works its way east/southeast this morning.  Localized flash flooding will be the main concern with this hit or miss heavy rainfall.  Amounts between 1/2 and 1.5 inches are possible with some isolated higher accumulations by end of the day.  Most of this activity is expected to die out by early evening with much quieter conditions expected overnight.  Here’s a peek at how the radar may shape up today.  Keep in mind this is a model forecast animation, not live radar:

Thanks to abundant cloud cover, highs today will remain below normal for all but deep south Texas.  As we’ve been talking about for several days now, this trend will continue at least into the weekend, and likely into the week ahead, so enjoy it while it lasts!
