Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 5 AM for North Texas

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the northern half of North Texas until 5 AM Tuesday. This includes Allen, Arlington, Bonham, Bowie, Briar, Bridgeport, Carrollton, Commerce, Cooper, Dallas, Decatur, Denison, Denton, East Tawakoni, Emory, Flower Mound, Fort Worth, Frisco, Gainesville, Graham, Greenville, Heath, Jacksboro, Lewisville, McKinney, Nocona, Olney, Paris, Plano, Point, Rockwall, Sherman, Sulphur Springs, and Weatherford. A line of strong to severe storms is moving across Northwest Texas and southern Oklahoma. These storms have a history of producing wind gusts of 50 to 70 MPH. They’ll slowly weaken as they move south of the Red River tonight, but some strong winds will remain possible.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
North Texas

* Effective this Monday night and Tuesday morning from 1050 PM
until 500 AM CDT.

* Primary threats include…
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY…A fast-moving line of storms will continue southeastward
across parts of North Texas through the late evening and overnight
hours with damaging winds as the primary concern.

statute miles north and south of a line from 40 miles north
northwest of Mineral Wells TX to 75 miles east southeast of Sherman
