Today's Temperature Summary with New Record Highs

This afternoon brought the hottest weather so far this year across Texas. That isn’t a surprise considering we’re heading into late June, but the extent of today’s heat was unusual and in some cases record-breaking. At least seven records were tied/broken today. The following observations are from official National Weather Service observation sites. The warmest official site was Lubbock at 112 degrees; and an 114-degree temperature from a West Texas Mesonet station in Palo Duro Canyon. Temperatures across the eastern half of Texas were comparatively cooler, but humidity values were higher. Thus the apparent temperature was still well above 100 degrees.
