New Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued through 7AM Tuesday

Our current severe thunderstorm watch expired at 11 PM. A new severe thunderstorm watch has now been issued to replace that one. This new watch is in effect until 7 AM, although it is my hope we’ll be able to get rid of it sooner than that. This severe thunderstorm watch includes portions of the Hill Country, Central Texas, and the Brazos Valley. Del Rio, Kerrville, San Antonio, Austin, Waco, College Station, and Conroe are a few towns included.

The strongest storms will continue to have a risk of producing hail up to the size of golfballs, damaging wind gusts up to 70 MPH, and a very low threat of a tornado. The ongoing storms are likely somewhat elevated above a cap, so that will keep the tornado threat low – but not zero. Flash flooding is a significant concern tonight as well, especially in Central Texas.
