Your Sunday and Labor Day Forecast!

Good morning and happy Sunday! I hope everyone is enjoying a fun Labor Day weekend! Thankfully, we won’t have to worry too much today about rain interrupting any outdoor activities planned for later on. Chances for rain today will be significantly reduced and confined mainly to parts of coastal south and southeast Texas by early afternoon, and also across the western panhandle by late afternoon.  The forecast high temperatures for today will be close to normal for this time of the year with nothing too extreme expected. Parts of north and northeast Texas saw a bit of a break from the humidity yesterday, but with southerly winds returning today and tomorrow, we’ll begin to see humidity values on the increase.

For tomorrow, Labor Day, we see chances for scattered showers push a bit further inland as moisture increases overnight tonight. Chances for rain tomorrow will still be confined mainly to south and southeast Texas, but will expand further north into parts of central Texas and southern North Texas.  Coverage of storms across the north will not be quite as expansive, but will need to be watched especially if you’re planning outdoor activities. Further south, rain chances will be more widespread with some locally heavy showers and thunderstorms possible. Our recommendation for southeast Texas would be to get your holiday BBQs done today as they could be rained out tomorrow. Widespread severe weather is not expected with Monday’s storms, but a few of the storms tomorrow could contain gusty downburst winds, brief heavy rain and lightning. As always, if you’re outdoors or on area lakes, keep an eye on the sky and be prepared to seek shelter if storms develop near you or you begin to hear thunder in the distance.
