Flash Flood Warning – Hill Country till 115PM

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for southeastern Hill county in North-Central Texas until 1:15 PM. Radar indicates over two inches of rain has fallen over the warned area during the past hour. With rains over the past few days all that water will take a couple hours to runoff. Hill county Emergency Management reports some lanes on Interstate 35 are flooded but the highway is open. Rains continue to fall and low-water road crossings may become flooded.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Flash Flood Warning for: Southeastern Hill County in central Texas.

  • Until 1:15 PM CDT.
  • At 10:22 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated slowly moving showers and thunderstorms that were producing Heavy Rain across the area from just south of Hillsboro to just northwest of Penelope. This rainfall will lead to excessive water runoff and cause flash flooding. Low-lying areas are most vulnerable to rapidly rising water. Some Low-water crossings may flood and become impassable. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.
  • Some locations that will experience flooding include: Hillsboro, Hubbard, Bynum, Abbott, Mount calm, Malone. Penelope and Mertens.
