Severe Thunderstorm Watch for South Texas until 3 PM CT

The Storm Prediction Center and National Weather Service have issued a severe thunderstorm watch for South Texas and the Middle Texas Coast. This watch runs through the early afternoon hours and is for a line of severe storms now entering South Texas near Interstate 35. Laredo, Freer, Alice, Kingsville, Corpus Christi, Refugio, George West, Victoria, Cuero, Beeville, Floresville, and Pleasanton are included in this watch. The primary severe weather hazard will be from a line of storms now approaching Interstate 35 from Pearsall to Cotulla. The strongest of these storms could produce wind gusts over 70 MPH, hail up to the size of a golfball, very heavy rain, and brief tornadoes. This line will sweep east through the watch area by the early afternoon hours. Eventually this line may build north and impact portions of the Coastal Plains and Southeast Texas later today.
