2:00pm Severe Weather Update for Southeast Texas

Storms across southeast Texas are creating a bit of mischief this afternoon with one tornado warned cell out in Brazoria county earlier.  While not touted to be much of a severe weather day today, there is just enough instability and low level shear closer to the coast to provide storms a chance to get going. As they head north and further away from the coast, it looks like they’ll be heading into much more stable air leftover from previous storms and the severe threat will diminish.  Heavy rain and localized flooding will remain a concern through the afternoon and early evening hours before these storms move off to the east/northeast. Residents close to the coast mainly south and southwest of the Houston metro area will want to keep an eye on the weather this afternoon as further development of strong to severe storms is possible.
