Good morning and happy Sunday!  An upper level low currently spinning over central Texas will bring us a few rain and thunderstorm chances today as it slowly migrates east.  Ongoing showers across west central Texas, and east of I-45 across east and southeast Texas are expected to continue and gradually increase in coverage while moving east/northeast during the afternoon.  The severe weather threat is very low, but we could see a few stronger storms develop across southeast Texas this afternoon or evening.  We’ll be keeping an eye out on that just in case.  Here’s a look at how the radar might shape up through early evening…

Once this system moves out, high pressure will move in and we’ll have a brief period of seasonable temps and dry weather until our next system arrives mid-week.  Another upper level low will drop south along the west coast this week and then settle in over the four corners region by Wednesday and begin moving northeast and out over the southern plains by Thursday.  This will bring rain and storm chances back into the forecast by late Wednesday and possibly into the weekend depending on how slow this low is to eject northeast and out of the area.  Right now, best rain chances look to be across parts of the panhandle and northwest Texas Wednesday afternoon, then filling in across north central and central Texas by Thursday. At the same time, a strong cold front will arrive…this timing of which may be a bit faster than the current forecast models are projecting for late Thursday into Friday.  This cold front will essentially scour our the moisture from the state until the middle of next week which means we’ll likely have some nice cool fall days ahead for us by next weekend.  Be sure to check back with us for updates during the week as this gets closer!
