Pleasant Early Fall-Like Conditions Today!

I don’t know about y’all, but I certainly enjoyed not being assaulted by a warm and humid airmass when I opened my front door this morning.  With yesterday’s cold front making good progress through south central Texas this morning, pretty much all of our state will benefit today and tonight from cooler and less humid air than we’ve seen in many months.   Highs today will range from the upper 70s across the panhandle to low 90s further south ahead of the front.  Lows tonight will drop down into the 60s across most of the state with low 70s expected across deep south Texas.

We do have a few chances of rain this afternoon…mainly across the southern panhandle/rolling plains region of the state.  Confidence is not high in their development, but a bit of moisture and lift from an upper level disturbance in the northwest flow aloft is enough to warrant a mention of the chance.  Later tonight, we could also see the development of additional showers across western north Texas.  Again, confidence is not high, but it’s worth mentioning.

Enjoy this cooler air while it lasts because we’ll be right back up into the 90s by early next week as high pressure builds back in from the west.  Unfortunately, next week looks mostly dry for our state with only scattered rain chances mainly along the coast through next week.  That is not helpful for our drought situation.
