Hey Y’all Good Morning! I’m glad you’re back with us after yet another weekend. Sadly the work week has returned but at least the weather won’t be giving us any issues. Some folks across the northwestern half of Texas got rain over the weekend. Once the precipitation analysis data is available we’ll post some of those rain numbers a bit later on this morning. The weather radar is quiet across Texas with high pressure aloft building back in. A few locations are fogged in but that will burn off a few hours after sunrise.

Most of Texas will remain dry today with only low afternoon shower chances across Southeast and South Texas. Far West Texas does have a 20 to 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today. Those rain chances increase tonight across Far West Texas. Moisture from Tropical Depression 16 located over Baja California is spreading north into the Southwest United States. More flooding is in the forecast for folks in Arizona, southern California, and parts of New Mexico. Far West Texas, around El Paso, will be on the eastern fringe of all that activity. For the remainder of Texas we’ll be too far east to feel any impacts or precipitation chances.

After a brief respite from summer temperatures the northwestern half of Texas will join back in and participate in above-average temperatures today. High temperatures this afternoon will range from the upper 80s to the mid 90s. Far West Texas will be slightly cooler thanks to clouds/rain chances. Compared to July and August at least we’re getting to enjoy cooler nights now that we’re into Mid-September. Low temperatures for the state tonight will drop off into the low 60s to mid 70s. That sure beats the upper 70s we saw back in July and August. Parts of the state will see a drop in moisture levels this week but temperatures will remain warm in the 80s and 90s. We’re not expecting any major weather issues through the work week as the high pressure aloft dominates our weather.
