Summer Heat Continues with Excessive Heat Index Temperatures

A heat advisory is in effect for Deep South Texas this afternoon. Heat index temperatures will exceed 110 degrees in the shade – quite toasty and dangerous to those who don’t treat the heat with respect. Temperatures will climb into the upper 90s through the mid 100s for highs today. A few thunderstorms will be possible in the Texas Panhandle – with a couple storms more probable across the northern Texas Panhandle. Heat index values across the eastern two-thirds of Texas will end up in the 102-108 degree range this afternoon. Tonight temperatures will fall into the upper 70s to lower 80s. Heat index values will remain in the 80s to lower 90s well into the night. Temperatures will remain fairly uniform until the end of the upcoming work week when we should see things cool back down a few degrees. Perhaps a few storms as well!
