June 24, 2015 Texas Weather Roundup

Good Morning Texas! Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Texas Weather Roundup – our daily forecast that lets you know if any upcoming hazardous weather along with a general idea of what to expect today. I’m actually about to embark on a 8-10 hour drive to Iowa to chase storms so I’ll keep this short and sweet.

Chance of rain today

Chance of rain today

Scattered showers and popup thunderstorms are expected by this afternoon across the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas, Southeast Texas, parts of East Texas, Central Texas, and Southwest Texas into extreme West Texas towards El Paso. As usual for a summer’s day the strongest storms will be capable of producing frequent lightning, localized strong winds (downburst), and a quick burst of heavy rain. When Thunder Roars Go Indoors!

Wednesday's High Temperature Forecast

Wednesday’s High Temperature Forecast

It’s going to be hot today as dew points in the 70s combine with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s across most of Texas. Heat index values will approach 100 degrees in some locations. We should see another day of at least some south/southeast winds to help offset some of the heat. Its summer in Texas – it’s going to be toasty.

Wednesday Night's low temperature forecast

Low temperatures will also be warm tonight with the big cities only dropping into the mid 70s. Rural areas should drop into the upper 60s to lower 70s. Again just about what we would expect for late June.
