June 20, 2015 Texas Weather Roundup

2015-06-20_5-16-43 2015-06-20_5-17-03

Afternoon thunderstorms are likely across South-Central and South Texas into the Rio Grande Valley. Additional popup thunderstorms are also expected in Southeast Texas as the seabreeze moves inland. Severe weather is not expected but localized downburst winds and frequent cloud to ground lightning are expected with stronger storms. The chance of being impacted by a thunderstorm is 30 to 50 percent in the regions mentioned above. Locally heavy rain could produce minor nuisance flooding in areas that get under one of these storms. If thunder roars go indoors! The remainder of Texas should remain dry today.

We’ve returned to a summer pattern with high temperatures expected to climb into the 90s today. Lower 100s are a good bet in extreme West Texas around El Paso. Thunderstorms this afternoon will help keep South-Central Texas in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees but with higher humidity values. Heat index values today should peak about 3-5 degrees above the actual air temperature. Winds will be out of the south or southwest around 10-15 MPH with gusts up to 25 MPH. Tonight will be a typical warm June night.
