A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for portions of the Texas Panhandle and South Plains until 4 AM CDT. Thunderstorms are developing ahead of a cold front over parts of New Mexico. These storms will move east into Texas overnight. Some of the storms will be capable of producing large hail and gusty straight line winds.

* EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY MORNING FROM 1055 PM
UNTIL 400 AM CDT.
* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE…
SCATTERED LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2
INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE
ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE
SUMMARY…THUNDERSTORMS ARE DEVELOPING AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT OVER
SOUTHEAST NM. THESE STORMS WILL TRACK NORTHEASTWARD ACROSS PARTS OF
WEST TX AND INTO PORTIONS OF THE OK PANHANDLE OVERNIGHT…WITH THE
RISK OF LARGE HAIL AND GUSTY WINDS.

STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 45 MILES EAST
NORTHEAST OF GUYMON OKLAHOMA TO 50 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF
