FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Southwest Harris and Northern Fort Bend County

* FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR SPRING BRANCH, SUGAR LAND, STAFFORD, MISSION BEND, MEADOWS PLACE, WEST HOUSTON IN SOUTHWEST HARRIS AND NORTHERN FORT BEND COUNTIES *

A major flood event is underway in the western part of the Houston metro this evening. Four to six inches of rain has fallen within the past 90 minutes overwhelming local flood control efforts. Many bayous and streams are at or over their banks and flooding roadways and potentially structures. With very heavy rain continuing this has become a life-threatening situation. If you are in a flood plain or area that has issues with flooding be prepared to evacuate if ordered. Even areas that don’t typically flood may experience issues. Once again, this is not a typical Houston flood. This is a high-end flood emergency situation! Follow orders from local emergency management and move to higher ground if ordered or it becomes needed. Otherwise Houston Flood Control District urgently requests you shelter in place until the event abates.
