8:30pm Update – West Central Texas

Temps are hovering right at 32 degrees along and south of I-10 in west central Texas.  Starting to see reports of a transition to a mix of freezing rain and sleet across these areas, with heavier bands of precip forming between Ballinger, San Angelo and Abilene.  Expect the mix of winter precip to continue development to the south and east over the next several hours with quickly deteriorating road conditions.  Further north along I-20, mainly snow falling at the time.  Roads have already become treacherous with several reports of accidents along I-20.   North of I-20, winter precip is coming to an end as the back edge of the precipitation band continues to move east..but any precip that fell earlier will remain frozen across bridges and roadways through tomorrow morning.  Wind chills will be brutal tonight…in the teens for most…so don’t venture out if you don’t have to!
