Back at the top of the Temperature Roller Coaster

Temperatures have finally climbed back up to the top of the roller coaster. They’ll fall off again big time this weekend but lets just enjoy the warm weather today. Temperatures will be coolest today in Northeast Texas as cool air continues to wedge in from Arkansas. Be happy you’re not up in Arkansas today – they’re expecting another round of freezing rain and sleet! Our weather will be much nicer with 60s and 70s spreading across much of Texas by this afternoon. Amarillo and Lubbock will top out at 73 degrees, Waco at 68, San Angelo at 71, and Palestine at 60. Skies will try and cloud up a bit this afternoon but we should still maintain partly to mostly cloudy skies today.

Another significant cool down will arrive this weekend with cold air likely to stick around well into next week. Several storm systems appear possible during that timeframe with chances for winter weather and rain. Accumulating snow is expected this weekend in the northwestern Texas Panhandle into Kansas. Another storm system late next week has the potential to produce more significant impacts over a larger area. As always the forecast will chance a dozen times (if not more). For a weather geek at least that means something interesting to track and something to type about.
