The bulk of the sleet and freezing rain has now moved into northeast Texas. Â Henderson, Longview, Carthage, Marshall, Jefferson, New Boston and Texarkana are all under the gun for continued accumulation of sleet over the next several hours. Â By sunset, most of the system will have moved east and into Louisiana. Â Roadways across northeast Texas are already slick and will remain slick into tomorrow as temperatures will not get above freezing until at least mid-day on Tuesday. Â Winter Storm Warnings remain in place for northeast Texas and northwest Louisiana until 9pm this evening.
The snow band over the central panhandle has persisted a bit longer than previously expected.  It’s expected to continue producing light to moderate for a few more hours before finally moving east into western Oklahoma.  Roadways here will continue to be slick and dangerous for the remainder of the evening and overnight and folks are encouraged to remain off the roads if at all possible.
