The weather the past few days has been warm and pleasant with cool temperatures overnight. This forecast won’t be any different as temperatures continue to drop this evening under mostly clear skies. Clouds will remain and result in mostly cloudy conditions in the Rio Grande Valley tonight and on Monday. Monday will be another seasonably warm day as temperatures climb back into the 60s and in 70s with light winds. Weather-wise things will remain calm until a storm system moves in from our west/southwest on Wednesday.

By Wednesday a positive tilt upper level trough will begin to rotate into the state from the southwest. As this occurs moisture will begin streaming back in and our weather will begin changing. Based on the current data it looks like a relatively widespread rain is on the way for Texas during the overnight hours on Wednesday into the day on Thursday. Obviously we’re going to have to nail down the exact timing and strength of the system but some folks could see up to an inch of rain. Temperatures look to be too warm for any winter precipitation with no severe thunderstorms expected either. We’ll look over tonight’s weather model data and have a more detailed forecast regarding rain chances later this week in your Monday morning weather roundup.
