Rain & Some "Sneet" Overnight – More Rain Tomorrow

Screen Shot 2015-01-30 at 6.35.19 PM

Most of the radar activity this afternoon has been confined to parts of the panhandle and western Texas.  A mix of rain and sleet has been ongoing across parts of the western panhandle this afternoon.  Temps have remained above freezing here, but as we cool into the overnight hours and temps drop closer to the freezing mark, we’ll see additional sleet with snow possibly mixed in with it…(aka “Sneet”).  Best chances of seeing snow remain across the far western panhandle, and by tomorrow afternoon, most of the activity will be in the form of a cold rain.  Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for Dallam, Deaf Smith, Hartley, Moore, Oldham, Potter, Randall and Sherman counties until 6pm tomorrow.

LUBLows tonight, as mentioned above, will drop down to around freezing across the northern and western parts of the panhandle.  Everyone else will remain above freezing tonight and throughout this rain event, thus any precip that falls will remain in liquid form.  Sorry…no snow days for anyone this time around! Mid 30s can be expected overnight across far western Texas,  lower 40s across northern Texas, mid to upper 40s across central Texas, with deep south Texas enjoying very pleasant overnight lows in the 50s to low 60s.

Tomorrow, widespread rain spreading east across the state will keep things dreary most of the day.  Highs tomorrow for much of the panhandle and northern Texas won’d budge too much.  Best bet for a warmer afternoon will remain across coastal and southern zones.  Another cold front will drop by for a visit on Sunday, and at this point, it appears this front will be a bit stronger with colder temps reaching further into the state.
