Isolated Storm Chances near the Red River Tonight; Warm End to October

fema06_swody1

We’ll have a low chance for a storm or two in proximity of the Red River this evening. This afternoon isolated to scattered storms will likely form near Interstate 40 in Central and Eastern Oklahoma. Storms will slowly progress to the south/southeast. There will be a marginal risk of severe storms with the storms in Oklahoma today. As they move south this evening they will be weakening. I would not be surprised if storms dissipate before reaching the Red River. However, they may be able to make it into Northeast Texas before completely dissipating tonight. If they do manage to survive into Texas some may produce small hail and gusty winds. Storms will dissipate late tonight. After tonight’s storm chance the next rain chances will not arrive until November 1-2.

Above-average temperatures will continue through the end of October. Highs during the afternoon will top out in the 80s to lower 90s. At this time it does not look like we’ll be dealing with the upper 90s/100s that broke records earlier this month. However, temperatures will still be ten to twenty degrees above average for late October. Overnight lows will drop into the 50s and 60s. Some more humid locations may have issues getting below the upper 60s to around 70. Halloween itself looks warm with highs in the 80s to lower 90s. By early evening temperatures should be in the upper 70s to lower 80s. It is going to be a warm one this year!

A storm system could bring rain/storm chances around November 1-2. Until then rain chances will be low to zero with above-average temperatures.
