A severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect through 10 PM for the eastern Texas Panhandle and portions of West Texas. This watch encompasses an area extending from near Perryton to Pampa to Clarendon to Ralls – east to Munday – and north/west of a line to Quanah to Elk City (OK) to Arnett (OK). Those within the bounds of that box are included in this watch. Isolated severe thunderstorm development is anticipated to occur by 5-6 PM. These storms that do develop will move slowly to the east, southeast, and south. The strongest storms could be supercelluar with a risk of hail up to the size of easter eggs (or tennis balls), damaging winds over 60 MPH, and a low risk for a tornado. Localized flooding is also expected as some storms may be nearly stationary.

* Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 330 PM until
1000 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include…
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5
inches in diameter possible
Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY…Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop late this
afternoon and move slowly southeast into the evening with a threat
for large hail and damaging winds. A tornado or two is also
possible.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles east and west of a line from 125 miles north of
Childress TX to 70 miles south of Childress TX. For a complete
