Benign Weather with Warming Temperatures through Friday

Benign weather will continue the next few days, although with small chances for precipitation mixed in. Temperatures made it down into the 20s in the Texas Panhandle this morning. 30s are expected in West Texas, Northwest Texas, Texoma, into Northeast Texas. This morning goes to show that we aren’t entirely done with cooler weather just yet. Don’t worry though, temperatures are headed back up the roller coaster of fun in the coming days.

High temperatures this afternoon will range from the upper 50s in Northeast Texas up into the 80s in the Trans-Pecos and Borderland. The cooler air in Northeast Texas and Texoma is thanks to cool air wedging from the higher elevations in Arkansas. Precipitation chances are NIL and it looks to be a pretty nice hump-day.

Temperatures tonight will be five to ten degrees warmer than this morning. Parts of the Texas Panhandle may experience a frost. Temperatures will make it down into the 40s in West Texas, the Permian Basin, and further east in Northeast Texas, East Texas, and far Southeast Texas. Warm air advection will bring increased cloudiness and comparatively warmer temperatures in the Rio Grande Valley, Deep South Texas, Southwest Texas, into the Concho Valley, Central Texas, and the Middle Coast.

A significant warm up will commence on Thursday and Friday. 80s are forecast on Thursday in the Texas Panhandle, Northwest Texas, West Texas, the Permian Basin, Big Country, Concho Valley, Trans-Pecos, Borderland, into Southwest Texas, South Texas, and the Borderland. Cooler air will continue to keep Northeast Texas and East Texas comparatively cooler on Thursday with 60s and 70s, but the warmup will continue into Friday for those regions. Increased clouds and sprinkles are expected on Thursday as moisture levels increase near the coast and adjacent inland regions. Measurable precipitation is unlikely.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible Friday Night along the Red River from Wichita Falls east to Texarkana, and adjacent sections of North and Northeast Texas. The risk of severe storms will be low with cloud to ground lightning and small hail the primary threats.
