Calm & Mild For The Remainder of the Work Week – Rain Chances Return Sunday – Monday

Much nicer weather is expected over the next several days until our next storm system arrives late this weekend.  Lows overnight will be chilly and fairly seasonal with 20s expected across the panhandle, 30s for far west and west central Texas.  North central Texas and central Texas will see lows overnight drop down into the 40s with upper 40s and low 50s expected further south along the coast.  High pressure will be situated overhead tomorrow which will lead to clearing skies and cool, but seasonal, highs.  The panhandle will see temps climb into the mid 50s tomorrow, northern and central Texas will see highs in the low 60s, and areas near the coast and down into south Texas will see highs ranging from the low to upper 60s. Daily highs will continue to warm a few degrees through the weekend as well! By Saturday, we’ll be looking at widespread highs in the mid 70s, and even some 80 degree readings possible across south central and deep south Texas by this weekend.  Above normal for this time of the year, but nothing as drastic as last weekend’s record breaking February heatwave.  That’s two words I never thought I’d see combined in the same sentence!

Clouds will begin to clear out by Wednesday and we’ll stay mostly sunny until we get into the weekend. Our next storm system will arrive by late in the weekend with another upper level low digging in across northern Mexico and generating lift for precipitation mainly late Sunday, Monday and into Tuesday. Rainfall amounts are looking pretty decent as well with this next system.  We will also remain warmer this time around…with no cold front expected.  It’s still too early to talk about any threat of severe weather, but we’ll be keeping an eye on it.  Right now it looks like the timing of storm development late Sunday into early Monday will preclude any threat of widespread severe, but we’ll let you know if that changes.
