Rain Moves Out Later Today; Great Thanksgiving Weather Forecast

2016-11-23_6-02-58

A line of showers and thunderstorms will continue to move southeast this morning into the Middle Texas Coast and Southeast Texas. This activity is moving southeast in conjunction with a cool front. Severe weather is not expected and most precipitation should be off-shore by this afternoon. Temperatures won’t really be that much cooler behind the front today, but the airmass will be much drier.

Another col front will move through on Friday. The upcoming front will bring a chance of light showers on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to portions of Texas. Unlike this morning’s round of storms most precipitation this weekend will be spotty and light. Certainly not a wash-out by any means. A couple spots may pick up half an inch of rain over the three day period, but most locations won’t see nearly that much rain. Temperatures will fluctuate daily thanks to the roller coaster effect between fronts. We won’t be dealing with an extremely cold or unusually hot air mass over the next few days.

Upper level pattern by early next week – big storm system inbound!

A powerful upper level storm system will arrive around Monday of next week. This system is likely to be a doozy and will bring high-impact weather to parts of the United States. Severe storms are possible on Monday in East Texas and Southeast Texas, although the specifics will undoubtedly be refined as we get closer to the event. A big-time winter storm is likely in the Northern Plains. We’ll stay on the storm train with another powerful storm system possible late next week. Don’t be surprised if we see a big time cool down next week as well. Much of September, October, and November has featured above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation. That looks to have ended as we enter a very active pattern over the next two weeks.
