Boring Weather with Above-Average Temperatures This Week

A boring week of weather is upon us as an upper level heat ridge rebuilds into the southwestern United States. On one side of the spectrum it is nice to have a easy weather forecast. On the other hand I wouldn’t mind another cold front to bring some drought relief and cooler weather. Besides the above-average temperatures through the week we won’t have much other in the way of weather issues. One minor exception will be a rogue thunderstorm Tuesday evening in the Texas Panhandle.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the eastern Texas Panhandle in a marginal risk of severe storms for Tuesday evening. A weak cool front will be slowly moving south/southeast. Temperatures won’t be cooler with this front but dewpoints may drop a couple degrees. Thunderstorm development isn’t guaranteed. If a storm is able to develop it could be strong with small hail and gusty winds. Otherwise a quiet evening is anticipated.

After the low rain chance Tuesday evening in the Panhandle the remainder of the week is expected to be dry and warm. High temperatures this week will be above-average with 80s to lower 90s. By Friday into the weekend high temperatures may try to edge up a couple degrees into the upper 80s to mid 90s as a heat ridge intensifies to our west. One glimmer of good news is the hottest weather should remain west of Texas. Rain chances will be very low to zilch. Welcome to late October folks with a weak La Nina in place.
