Clearing Skies with a Fall Preview for Northwest Half of Texas Tonight

2016-09-10_12-22-33

A pleasant night is in store for the northeast half of Texas where a drier airmass will allow for a fall preview. Temperatures will drop off into the 50s tonight across the Texas Panhandle, West Texas, and Northwest Texas. Lower to middle 60s can be expected by sunrise Sunday across the Borderland, Permian Basin, Big Country, Concho Valley, Hill Country, and locations west and north of the D/FW Metroplex. This cooler weather will be accompanied by clearing skies this evening. The southeastern half of Texas will remain on the ‘warm’ side of the stationary front that moved south earlier today. Moisture levels will be higher and low temperatures will remain warm in the 70s. In addition, isolated to widely scattered showers are expected in Southwest Texas, South-Central Texas, Deep South Texas, the Rio Grande Valley, the Middle Texas Coast, into Southeast Texas. Fog may form around sunrise as well.

Our stationary front will dissipate tomorrow with winds working to become southerly through the afternoon on Sunday. Isolated to widely scattered showers and storms are possible in the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas, the Middle-Texas COast, Southeast Texas, East Texas, and the Brazos Valley. The best chance for a quick downpour will be in the afternoon hours. Activity will diminish by the early evening. High temperatures across the state will top out in the lower 80s to lower 90s – decent compared to last week. Fall weather fans shouldn’t get their spirits too high though, temperatures jump right back up into the 90s by Monday.
