5:20pm DFW (Denton County) Severe Weather Update

At this time, we have one severe storm with a history of golf ball up to tennis ball size hail heading into the Denton area.  This storm is moving east/southeast at roughly 45 mph and will impact the cities of Denton now and the cities of  Corinth, Cross Roads, Little Elm, Celina and Prosper within the next 20 to 30 minutes.   This cell was previously under a Tornado Warning for radar indicated rotation, but at this time the cell is no longer under a Tornado warning as its circulation has decreased over the past 20 minutes; however, we will continue to keep our eyes on any future tornadic potential.  High winds, large hail and frequent lightning will be the main threats at this time.  Persons ahead of this dangerous storm need to take precautions now to protect property, family and pets.  We also urge folks out on the highway commuting home, if you run into any hail, please do not stop beneath underpasses to get as this is dangerous and illegal.
